Wake Forest basketball coach charged in fatal Queens attack

WINSTON SALEM, North Carolina – A Wake Forest basketball coach was charged with assault for the Queens attack on a Florida tourist, who later died in the hospital, sources said.

Jamill Jones — an assistant coach at the ACC basketball program — allegedly slugged Boca Raton resident Sabor Szabo in the head early Sunday morning after Szabo was apparently drunk and banging on cars in Long Island City, according to law enforcement sources.

Szabo — in town for his stepsister’s wedding — was leaving his brother’s LIC hotel and looking for the ride he had called, his family claimed.

Jones punched him in the face after Szabo banged on his car, sources said.

The 35-year-old Szabo fell to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. He later died from his injuries.

A medical examiner’s report will determine whether the punch led to Szabo’s death.

The charges against Jones could be upgraded, sources said.
