Graham locked in as 11.5 point favorites over Bluefield in massive rivalry matchup

UPDATED ODDS from The Winning Edge:

As of 4:41pm (EST) Friday, August 24th the Graham-Beaver spread has moved from (-11.5/Graham) to (-2/Graham). Money is rolling in heavily on the Beavers before kickoff.

Original story:

In one of the most captivating rivalries in high school football, the Bluefield Beavers (WV) face the Graham G-Men (VA) this Friday at Mitchell Stadium.

Every year, the Beavers and G-Men meet up in Mitchell Stadium located on the West Virginia/Virginia border, right next to Bluefield College’s (VA) campus.

The game attracts many fans from both sides of the state line. As many as 16,000+ fans have been statistically recorded in attendance for the matchup. It draws more than just your former high school has-been’s.

“This game means a lot to both schools. It’s a big rivalry for a reason. There’s a reason that the game has as much attention as it gets. Mitchell Stadium seats more people to watch 15-18 year olds play football than some smaller D1 (FCS) schools do. So, yes it means a lot.” – Former G-Men football player

It’s been a rivalry that has, in my opinion, been undervalued nationally over the course of time. This game sells. It brings a massive amount of people. Money is to be made when in talks with a Bluefield/Graham game. It’s good business for both sides of the border. Passion and fandom is certainly there for alumni, along with a lot of pride and tradition.

Bluefield

Betting odds are currently favoring the Graham G-Men as (-2) point favorites over the Beavers in their annual duel in Mitchell Stadium this Friday. Money rolling in on the Beavers has dropped the opening line from (-11.5) to (-2).

Although Bluefield is the underdog, the Beavers come in riding a lot of momentum. The Beavers had an undefeated 2017 campaign that resulted in a State Championship win over Fairmont Senior. Last season they defeated Graham 17-14 in dramatic fashion with a goal line stand as time expired.

The G-Men finished 12-2 with losses to only Bluefield and Union (VA) in the playoffs.

The Beavers lost their Kennedy Award winning running back in Mookie Collier and their other go-to short yardage back, Truck Edwards. The G-Men will have Purdue Boilermakers commit Cameron Allen on both sides of the ball, so this game will be full of talent and a lot of fun to watch.

Beaver/Graham kick off is slated for 7:37pm (EST), Friday August 24th.

Football is officially back.
