Zach Smith accuses Tom Herman of cheating on his wife in Twitter rant

If Zach Smith cannot be redeemed in the public eye, by God he’s going to try to bring others down with him.

The outspoken and disgraced former Ohio State assistant football coach, who was fired July 23 over allegations that he beat his wife, took his frustrations out on Texas head coach Tom Herman, who used to be an assistant alongside Smith with Ohio State.

In the wake of the allegations against Smith becoming public — which resulted in a suspension of Urban Meyer for not being forthright about what he knew about one of the alleged abusive incidents — Herman said he would talk with the NCAA about a strip-club visit with Smith in 2014. Wrong decision, according to Smith.

Smith, who also alleged Herman cheated with “an Iowa State recruiting girl,” shared a screenshot of an alleged text conversation with Herman, in which he said he would “expose the f–king cowardly bitch you are!!!!!!”

Herman has not yet responded to the charges, but he had told reporters about the strip-club excursion: “My wife knew exactly where I was, had no issue with it. I’m happy to cooperate and be honest, truthful, transparent with the NCAA if they so need me to be.”

It was reported a few months ago that Tom Herman leaked the story to Brett McMurphy about Urban Meyer knowing of Smith’s violent past. Herman denied the allegations.

The two overlapped with the Buckeyes from 2012-14, when Herman was offensive coordinator and Smith the receivers’ coach.

We will wait and see what happens of this mess.
